Cover thumbnail for Sallie Reynolds Matthews Collection Sallie Reynolds Matthews Collection

The Sallie Reynolds Matthews (SRM) Collection includes over 100 historical artifacts and materials related to our regional ranching heritage, and more specifically the Matthews family of Lambshead Ranch, just north of Albany. This collection honors Sallie Reynolds Matthews (1861–1938), pioneer rancher and author of 'Interwoven'. Matthews’ touching history of the early days in West Texas is told from the standpoint of the Matthews and Reynolds families. Sallie Reynolds Matthews is one of five women who have been inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. Sallie’s youngest child, Wattkins Reynolds Matthews, is also honored in the SRM Collection. "Watt" Matthews was the driving force behind Lambshead Ranch for nearly three quarters of a century and was recognized with numerous awards connected to ranching, the cattle industry and environmental protection.
