Object Description
A beach in Venice is depicted in this work, the composition divided horizontally into three relatively equal sections. Two figures in the foreground sunbath on the beach, while a third figure, fully dressed, walks toward the viewer. A stone jetty protrudes into the water at an angle into the center ground of the compositions. Another figure in swimwear is seen walking out onto the jetty toward a light post. The horizon line divides the upper two-thirds of the composition, the light blue sky meeting the water. Vertical blue brushstrokes in the sky suggest rainfall, though no clouds are seen.
