Object Description
Pen sketch of standing male wearing underwear only; PL leg bent and raised resting on invisible support; hands crossed resting on upraised knee paper lightstruck; further darkened from acidic backing apparent from lighter margins (L: 1 1/4", R: 1", T: 3/4"), and even lighter areas (original paper color) at top where backed by tape.

Title likely refers to Joe Mendez, a friend of the Fort Worth Circle. Mendez was a costume and set designer at the Reeder School, a school for children that was founded by Fort Worth Circle artists Dickson Reeder and Flora Blanc Reeder that produced elaborate productions like A Midsummer's Night Dream. He also worked as a model for several members of the Fort Worth Circle, including Utter.
