Title, date and medium were taken from label written in 2007 by Jennifer Casler Price, Curator for Asian and Non-Western Art at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas

An underglazed blue and white stemmed cup of gao zu bei with everted mouth rim and splayed stem or base. Painted with “heaped and piled” effect on the exterior to show two dragons in profile, interspersed with cloud motifs, all below solid parallel blue borders, together with sprays of clouds on the stem. The interior center is with 6 character cursive script Xuande reign mark (1426 – 1435) within a double circle. This piece appears to date from China’s Qing dynasty, from the Kangxi period (1662-1722). Kangxi greatly admired Xuande’s porcelain designs.
