Susan Kulbachi
American,
b. 1946
Susan Kulbacki is a life long artist. She began studying painting in fifth grade at the Detroit Institute of Art and the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts. She continued her studies through high school and into college before moving to New York City to immerse herself in the arts. She has continued to paint and study art through adulthood, in NYC, Woodstock and New Mexico. Kulbacki is best known for her landscapes, flowers and garden scenes. Originally from the Detroit area, Kulbacki enjoyed the benefit of painting/ drawing in the Detroit Institute of Art as a child. This interest continued through high school and beyond. Arter a year of college, Kulbacki relocated to New York City, to plunge into and experience the American art world at its core. Her next stop was Woodstock, New York, followed by many years functioning as an artist in the intense sunlight unique to Taos, New Mexico. Kulbacki's preference for nature served as a primary source of subject matter with an important difference. Her depictions were anything but clinical. Susan Kulbacki got lost in her visual excavations, something her followers sensed and grew to prefer. Currently the artist resides in Northern Arizona where she continues to embrace and subsequently convey her love of nature's flowers and scenes.
