Edward Donald Storms was born in Brady, Texas in 1924. He became a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force and flew over Germany in World War II. He attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and soon became an award-winning photographer. His work appeared in exhibits througout the country. He then moved into the field of contemporary art, first as a painter and then as a sculptor. In 1961 he began an apprenticeship with Fort Worth sculptor, Charles Williams. Since that time he decided to give sculpting his full attention. He exhibited frequently throughout the southwest. He has had works in the Texas Fine Arts Association Exhibits; Laguna Gloria Gallery, Austin; Fort Worth Art Center; Southwestern American Art Exhibit, Oklahoma City; San Francisco Art Institute; and Witte Museum in San Antonio. Awards he has received include the 1964 Artists of the Gulf States Exhibition, Delgado Museum of Art, New Orleans, where his "Jubjub Bird" was purchased by the museum for their permanent collection, and he was awarded a one-man show; 29th Annual Exhibition of Tarrant County, where he received the Rex J. Howard Sculpture Award; Texas Painting and Sculpture Exhibit in Dallas where he received honorable mention. On commission he created a piece for John Peter Smith Hospital which is housed in its Emergency Waiting Room in Fort Worth. He is represented in numerous private collections.
