American, b. 1949
Larry Millar grew up in Los Angeles and Atlanta, and moved to Abilene, Texas in 1982. He completed an art degree at Fresno State University in California and studied painting with Terry Allen, a renowned artist and musician. He has exhibited in California, Houston, Austin, Albany, Dallas, and Fort Worth (he was represented by William Campbell Gallery), as well as, Abilene. He was an original member of the Artists League of Texas now the Center for Contemporary Art. He taught art at Cooper High School for 20 years before joining the faculty at Premier High School and developing their art program. Millar’s work has ranged from natural dyes on paper to 72-million-year old tree tissues imbedded in wood sculptures.
